Excellent upper for your next build, The coating is a dark black which matches the lower perfect, I noticed a big difference between Zev uppers and other uppers on the market today, I would recommend trying this upper for your next build I know you will be Happy.

So I bought this last year and purchased the lower, hand guard and charging handle from ZEV as well, have to say was very impressed with the fit and the quality of the pieces together. Very light build as well. Have put about 1500 to 2000 round through this gun and never had a single issue.

ZEV Forged Upper matched up to my PWS lower nicely

Everything went together great and with minimal play, comparable to any other tight AR and comparable to a Springfield Saint my buddy owns. Definitely happy with it and I’ll most likely use an upper and lower from ZEV for my next build. Also have a ZEV trigger in my Glock that feels far better for my finger at the range. .
Upper fit

My first build is using both Zen upper and lower, these pieces went together snuggly and perfect fit. The barrel was thermally attached and is tight. All components have installed easily with the right tools. Shoots smooth.
